As a school team, we really wanted to work out what we are all about and what we really stood for as a staff, student, and school community. We developed a set of four core values that we develop in our students and entrench in all that we do. Our values statement, including these four core components, is as such:
We share a united pride in our school and community through:
Underpinning these values is an expectation that all students are capable of learning to reach their maximum potential, and that we continue to retain high expectations for all of our students. We set clear goals with the individual students independence as the focus of their education. Community involvement and a holistic approach towards the growth of the whole-child are paramount.
Hamilton Special Developmental School considers the safety of children as being our highest priority. Our school is committed to safety and wellbeing of all children and young people. This will be the primary focus of our care and decision-making. Our school has a zero tolerance of child abuse. Our vision is for all students to reach their academic, social, emotional and physical potential. This will occur in a safe environment where they develop the school values of Trust, Respect, Integrity and Persistence and an overall sense of achievement.
Hamilton SDS is committed to providing a child safe environment where children and young people are safe and feel safe, and their voices are heard about decisions that affect their lives.
Every person involved in Hamilton Special Developmental School has a responsibility to understand the important and specific role he/she plays individually and collectively to ensure that the wellbeing and safety of all children and young people is at the forefront of all they do and every decision they make.
